Pallet Rack Weight Capacity & Deflection Modeler

Model rack beam and upright capacity: enter beam span, the distributed load carried per level, the number of beam levels, your upright frame capacity and a safety/impact factor, then read per-level load, beam deflection, total rack load and whether the configuration stays within rated limits.

Input validity

Checks that beam span, load value, number of beam levels, safety factor and upright frame capacity are positive, finite numbers, and that the selected beam section is valid.

Awaiting input.

Beam capacity

Compares the factored per-level load against the allowable beam-pair capacity for the chosen span and section. Capacity is derived from the section modulus (bending stress) for a simply-supported beam pair.

Awaiting input.

Deflection

Estimates mid-span deflection of a beam pair under the service (unfactored) level load using the section's moment of inertia, and compares it to the span-based deflection limit you select.

Awaiting input.

Upright capacity

Checks the total factored rack load across all loaded beam levels against the rated capacity of the upright frame pair / bay supporting the rack section.

Awaiting input.

Rack config

Geometry & loading

Clear distance between the two upright frames
How you specify the distributed load on each level
Total distributed load carried by one beam pair on one level
Loaded shelves / levels in this rack bay
Multiplier on service load for capacity checks (e.g. 1.2–1.5)

Beam section

Structural box beam — section modulus & inertia
Maximum allowable mid-span deflection

Upright frame

Rated total capacity of the upright pair supporting all levels

Capacity & deflection

Enter the rack configuration, then model to see per-level load, deflection and capacity checks.
